A Look at the New Nissan Z
The auto world is abuzz with excitement about the new Nissan Z. Nissan confirmed that it was working on a replacement for its 370Z sports car in May 2020. Teasers were offered in videos along with upcoming models. The production version of the Z will be released with the moniker 400Z. The Nissan Z Proto incorporates many exciting features while retaining some of the old.
The demand for sports cars is on the rise again thanks to the revival of vehicles like the Toyota Supra and the Corvette. While the 370Z competed in its segment against affordable cars like the Mazda Miata, this new generation vehicle is expected to tap into a more up-market segment.
What To Expect with the 2021 Nissan Z
The new version of the vehicle has a mix of retro and modern features. The front end of the vehicle retains design elements from the 240Z, as do the headlights. The rear lights look like they were based on the 300zx. The new Nissan Z Proto has a short rear overhang and the rear quarter panels are compact (height) compared to the 370Z. The grille design is also borrowed from the original 240Z. The sloping roofline and teardrop-shaped headlights give this car a very distinctive look and feel.
As far as the engine is concerned, the Z’s powertrain is the same as the Infinity Q60. Powered by a 3.0l and 66 twin-turbo petrol motor, it has a 7-speed gearbox. The engine can produce 400 hp. This makes the 400Z a more powerful vehicle while replacing the outgoing 370Z. Nissan is working on offering a manual gear transmission as well. Purists can take satisfaction in the fact that the new 400Z is purely a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
The new Nissan Z has a highly modified version of the 37-Z platform. There is some debate on what this car will be named as well, even though many old features have been incorporated into the Nissan Z Proto.
The starting price for the vehicle is expected to be around $35,000 – cheaper than expected. Little information is available on pricing and release dates due to the pandemic. Buyers can also look forward to a new and redesigned interior. The 370Z’s was considered outdated and basic compared to its rivals. Since most new vehicles have top-of-the-line infotainment systems, the Z is also expected to have a modern system with great connectivity.
